Since our 2014 Hilton Head Jazz Camp, we have had the pleasure of having amazing young professional jazz musicians and educators return as college interns to mentor our next generation of aspiring jazz students.  With full overnight accommodations provided and a generous stipend, it as an awesome week for a college music student to learn from our amazing faculty on how to be an incredible educator.  Our internship experience is unique in that you are working alongside faculty doing many of the same things that they are doing, as you mentor the next generation of aspiring musicians.

For our premier Hilton Head Jazz Camp, we are ideally looking for five college interns in the areas of brass, woodwinds, rhythm section, vocal jazz and jazz strings.  Additional experience in the area of photography, videography and marketing are a plus too!  This opportunity is available to a second-year or higher college music major or highly-skilled musician ages 19-25 with significant professional experience.  You must be a good role-model to middle and high school students and be willing to follow our camp code of conduct for the week. Applications for the 2024 college intern program will be available in March 2024.

Our 2018 HHJC College Interns before the faculty recital

Our selected college interns should plan on arriving early to the hotel on the afternoon the day before camp begins, work a full week of camp and hopefully stay an extra day for post-camp cleanup.  If possible, we will also try to give you a community performance opportunity as the ‘college combo’ during the week of camp.  Many of our past college interns have gone on to pursue a career in music with incredible lifelong connections that started at the Hilton Head Jazz Camp.
